Average Time to Run 10k

The average time to run 10k is determined by a host of factors such as your age, gender, terrain, weather, to name but a few.

You would need to factor in all these variables and then compare these with the rest of the running world in order to come up with any sort of average time to run a 10k in.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the average (median) time to run a 10k for a man is somewhere around 55 minutes and for a woman it is 1hr 5 minutes. This is a rather crude estimate as it doesn’t take much account of the variables above and provides rather a broad brush approach to answering the question. In short, an average time to run 10k would be completely different for a 21 year old regional club runner to someone who is returning to running in their 50s after a period of absence

Fortunately there is such a thing as the age grade calculator that allows us to define our age, distance, and then it will compare our result against a defined standard.
